brakes pulsating

i have a zieman trailer with atwood surge master cylinder and drum brakes. last trip out my brakes started pulsating badly. the harder i break the worse it is. doesnt do it at all with light braking. the pulsating is so bad i have to back of the brake pedal to get it to stop. not sure if this is on the coupler end or something wrong with the brakes themselves.

The pulsating is caused by the drums being out of round. it can happen if the drums are over heated but, it is very common if the shoes are changed and the drum is not resurfaced. it can also happen if the drum has a small crack, which is very common on aluminum drums. Resurface or replace the drums.
