i would want the impeller changed, and any updates made from service bulletins. other than that looks great.

It's probably out of warranty ... 2007's were often shipped in 2006, at least mine were. Shouldn't need an impeller, since it's new, but you'll want a new MAP image burned by an authorized dealer and have the dealer set it up for the oil you will be using. If you use XD100, then don't use any other oil. Also, the dealer should set up the oiling by purging ALL air from the oil system. Do NOT attempt to run the motor w/o doing the above and make sure to fully read the instruction manual. E-Tec's are great motors, but they are NOT your father's motors.

i disagree the impeller has sat too long dry, to be reliable.

Re: Brand New 2007 E-tec

Although I could certainly be wrong, this ad would make me cautious. I just did a little surfing on the phone number and found a few interesting considerations.

First, a reverse lookup results in no listed number. That usually means that it is a cell phone. Second, "Joe" has this motor, a pair of Mercrusiers and a jackplate listed on CL in a number of places - Tampa, Sarasota/Bradenton, Ft Meyers, etc. In the ads, there are statements like "need Christmas cash," and "can't email right now."

To me, all of this adds up to a private seller, not a business. That being the case, who is "Joe" and where did he get a zero time ETEC 150hp motor that is still in the box? I would want the serial number off of the motor (obtained myself) to check to see if it is stolen. Also, if the guy is private, who is going to install and set the motor up? Would the warranty (if any) be valid?

This could be a good deal, or it could be a nightmare - be careful!

in Florida, we have to list in several cities, as there are so many craigslist sites. all those listed are easy driving distance, to pick up. i have been to miami, and tampa to pick up or deliver.

E=Tec's MUST be set up by an authorized Evinrude dealer for any warranty. Dealers may NOT sell boxed motors, period. So if there is any warranty, a dealer must install and set it up.

If the ad is legit, it's a heck of a price. A small block 150 typically goes for ~ $13,500 plus rigging and prop. BTW, you will need to buy a system alarm module as a minimum for displaying alarms for a few hundred plus a control unit and cables.

Correct. You CANNOT set this engine up yourself.

While I didn't know this for a fact, from an intuitive standpoint, I suspected it to be the case. This one sounds like a scam to me.
