Hello to all, i have been working on boats for a while with my father now and we have NEVER bought a brand new boat before which we just did. We have purchased a Glastron all fiberglass, (no wood) with a volvo penta 3.0 Liter with volvo penta outdrive. We have a 6 year warrenty on it however we dont wanna screw it up the first couple of days.

it is a 2007 model however brand new off showroom floor (NOS)

there telling us to run wide open for 5-10 min's at a time and back off for a while and then we can do it again like i said i work on these kinds of motors but has ALLWAYS been used lol?

I might suggest following the Owner's Manual.

Dude, owner?s manual is over rated. Run it top speed non stop 2 hours at a time to make sure you don?t have a sissy on your hands. Run it up into land a few times to make sure it has good mudding capabilities. Hit the gel coat with a hammer a few times to ease the pain of having to worry about scratching it up. Most importantly get drunk while doing all this (what?s the point of drinking if you?re not going to drive?).
KIDDING!
Follow everything in your owner?s manual to a T like you said.
Big CONGRATS on your new boat.

Congrads...

I would not take advise from that guy. I don't have a volvo, but my break in recommends not going over 3/4 throttle for the first 10 hours.

and only for a few minutes after 10 hours.

It is a 20 hour break-in period...

Read the manual and keep the performance where you want it.

Follow the instructions in the owners manual, and you won't have any problems. You have to remember, Volvo doesn't want their customers blowing up motors that are improperly broken in. They want all their motors to last forever. Makes for a happy repeat customer. So they give the best advise possible in the manuals. Includes types of oil, gas, everything to keep it working.
