Its got me scratching my head and it will go to the dealer next week but here it is for the board to ponder. . . brand new Johnson/Evin/Suzuki 4 stroke 30hp has steady oil leakage (slick) into the water while running and drips oil when not running and tilted up. Took off the shrouds and no external leaks anywhere, oil seems to be coming out of exhaust ports with the cooling water. First two hours of running - went thru 3 qts of oil. Runs perfect, no water in oil, when adding oil to make up for loss the new oil also starts to drip out of lower unit exhaust ports. . . any ideas?

Try to look for a leak in the front of the block there is a oil pressure switck tighten it and look at a plug just below - tigten it to - my 2000 30hp had a leak at the plug under the pressure switch - was wery difficult to trace as it loked as if it came from the gearbox - but no it came from this plug.

Bingo! (as we say in the states) ENN, your suggestion hit the mark. After removing the lower shrouds (again) I did find evidence of oil on the engine block in the area below the sending unit. I could not determine the exact source of the leak but it does not seem to be the sender. There are several oil gallery plugs that are suspect however and I will procure the proper metric allen wrenches tomorrow and tighten them up. Thanks for posting!
