Brass Shift Barrel Alpha One

Hi All,

Searched the forums, and couldn't find an answer to this one: On my 1987 3.0 Alpha One, it doesn't look like the brass adjustment barrel on the lower shift cable is adjustable. It's threaded, but won't turn, and there are two dimple like impressions in the side like it's been clamped on. My drive won't engage unless I take the adjustment barrel out and push the cable all the way in (meaning I need to adjust the brass barrel, but it won't turn). Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Chris

May just be some corrosion, oil and some wrenches to break it free.

put your drive cable (lower cable) in full forward. turn your prop counter clock wise while pushing in on cable to get full engagement.

measure 6 inches from center of brass barrel to center of eyelet on cable end.

adjust if needed.

slide the cable back into the shift cable bracket on motor.
then adjsut your remote cable until it slides smoothly into its location on bracket then back off 4 turns.
