I was looking at a new boat, for me, with a Bravo 1 outdrive. I have always owned Alpha 1's.
I noticed that the exhaust bellows was totally ripped in half, while the outdrive was tilted in trailer position. When I asked about it, the owner stated that his marine mechanic told him that the exhaust bellows was a non issue, and to just leave it. The mechanic, last year, replaced the other rubber on the outdrive, but not the exhaust bellows.
Does the exhaust need to go through the prop to operate correctly?
What about water getting up into the bellows and then into the manifold?
Does anyone have any input / knowledge on this? I want to say it is an issue, but I'm not a marine expert by any means.
