bravo 1 out drive to my volvo 290 gimbal ??

herd there might be an adapter of sorts to go from a bravo 1 to a volvo 290 gimbal housing ? reason im looking for something like this is i have came across a bavo 1 our drive with 40 hrs on it that is spotless for 1800 bucks. i have a 290 out drive that is torn down and needing a rebuild. figured i could swap in this out drive and be done with it. any help here would be great. im about as green as they come when it comes to out drives.

well if i get everything for that bravo one, do i have to do any sort of modifications to my transom to get it to fit?

Yes, you would have to fill in the hole and recut, It's much larger than the hole for the Bravo.
Here is a comparison of the hole sizes. Your cutout is the same as a DP-E

that would be a big 10-4 on the transom modification. screw it, guess ill just rebuild the 290. thanks don.

Find a 1.95 DP lower for your 290, and it will be better than any Bravo I.

i am only getting 54mph out of that volvo drive with a 20 pitch 3 blade aluminum prop. im not sure on the weight of my boat, its 22.5 feet. the small block that is in it is stout to say the least. cant remember the dyno numbers but is in the mid 400's. am i capable of more speed with a higher pitched prop even with the gear ratio of the volvo outdrive ?

I would suggest you post your question over in the prop forum. Might want to include what outdrive you are actually using, and what the max rpm is on your engine when under load.
