Hello! So I was trying to replace the reservoir oil line that goes from transom fitting to out drive (Bell Housing) and the barb coming off the pass threw fitting broke. The previous in-stall had the hose pinched against the side from torqueing it down so while I was trying to slide the new hose on was having difficulty's and was trying to use a flat head screwdriver to assist it up on the fitting. and it snapped off. I already removed the nut on the inside of the transom plate and in side hose thinking I can tap it out. but its stuck in place. also tried using a slide hammer with a pair of vice grips on the outside to pull it out and still won't budge. my suspicion's is there is a nut on the inside of the outer transom plate. I really don't want to pull the motor the remove the plate so I can see what's holding this in. My question is has anyone had this problem before? and how was it fixed? Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the outer transom plate so I can see what's inside? I have the exploded view of the transom assembly but the fittings look different than what I have, I cant find anything that shows a nut. Also is it possible to just plug the remote reservoir hole on the bell housing, eliminating the oil reservoir completely? will this cause damage or does the oil need to expand somewhere?

Yes there is a nut on the inside which is tightened to hold the feed thru, then the end is clipped on to it. I'm in the process of replacing boots and hoses to mine, and see of no way to remove the nut without removing the motor. Others may have a better idea. Here is a link to the exploded view

(so looks like 88-97 is brass then they changed it to plastic) I did remove the nut already but I don't have the y pipe in the way, its capped off. so not Shure if it would be a problem for guys with the y pipe installed. thanks for the diagram that's exactly what im looking for. Looks like its just supposed to slide out once the nut is removed. mine must be just really stuck in there so tonight I will beat it out! found a replacement at a local dealer so not worried about damaging it. just glad I don't have to remove the motor!!! thanks for the help

No Title

So end result slide hammer with heat applied to fitting would not budge the brass fitting loose. So I drilled the bulk part off and hammered it threw with an air hammer. Success!!

Good fix.
I know why they are all tightened to that side, the piece is slide in with hose attached, then the nut is tightened on the other side and it pushes it into the side. Have not started to do mine yet, and hope it goes easier
