Could anyone tell me the ID of the transom water hose on a Bravo 1? I am going to upgrade from an Alpha 1 and I'm working out the details. I have closed cooling fed by 1 1/4" hose.

You do realize you can't use the Alpha transom shield assembly to put the Bravo I on don't you?

Re: Bravo 1 transom hose

Thanks for the reply Vice Admiral Don and congratulations on your new rank . Yes I have researched it pretty well. I am picking up the parts as deals come along. My Alpha 1 seems to be holding up well to my SBC 400 repower, but I am extremely careful with my right hand. I am running a 14 1/4 X 20 prop at 5400rpm at wot but I know it will go faster with a bigger prop. Do you have the diameter of this hose handy?

Re: Bravo 1 transom hose

I don't know right off hand what the dia. is, it really doesn't matter as it is a formed hose and fits inside a hole in the transom shield and the bellhousing. There is then an insert that screws into the hose to lock it into place. It is NOT like the Alpha setup.
The part number for the hose is 32-43437
You will also need a special tool to install the inserts.
Here is the section from the Bravo service manual on the transom shield.
http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/11/11a4r5x.pdf
