bravo 3 problems

my outdrive is stuck in forward even when i have the shifter in reverse.if i give the shifter more gas in reverse the boat goes faster in forward.the cable is fine from the shifter to the engine,i can turn the prop 1 way but not the other,any ideas.its a 1999 7.4 with bravo 3's

It sounds like you either have a broken lower shift cable or the end is pulled off the cable where it goes into the drive.

You'll have to pull the drive to inspect. Mercury Service manual #11 outlines the procedure.
