Took the boat out today for the first run after a valve job; good news is that the original problem is fixed. Bad news is that there are 2 new problems (I'm going to post another thread about the other one).

The first problem was when we were leaving this afternoon, we were in relatively shallow water and I trimmed the drive up a bit from the "full down" position (maybe 3-4 seconds, definitely not into trailer position). Heard a clunking/screeching sound from the drive area when I put it into gear (no noise in neutral). Trimmed the drive back down and the problem went away. Tried a few times when we ran to trim it up a bit and the noise returned. Got back to the dock and flushed it out, trimmed the drive while flushing (in neutral) and no noise.

Any guesses?

Re: Bravo 3 screeching/clacking sound when trimmed up

Just wanted to kick this back up to the top to maybe get one more run through by the experts. Having my trusty mechanic (who I should just make a salaried employee, LOL) come back out to look at it hopefully this week, I'll update when he diagnoses the problem, just wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Thx!

Any noises when turning full lock? Could be u joint, only schreechin under load and angle. Thats why no neutral noise.

Pull the outdrive and check the ujoints and gimbal bearing. Make sure there is no water in the bellows.
