Hey all,
I'm about halfway through a bellows and gimbal bearing change out on a 95 Crownline 250 with a 7.4 / B2. I'm going to repaint the outdrive, but I'm also now looking at the transom assembly and steering yoke and they appear to be corroded and could use a painting too. The trouble is I don't know how to clean off the old stuff besides a sandblaster or maybe chemical stripper. I'm also worried about messing up the plastic fittings and other stuff in there. What are people typically doing with these to keep them in good shape? The original plan was to fully strip and alodine/prime/paint everything but that's looking pretty difficult for the transom assembly. The boat is trailered (for now) and goes in freshwater only.
Also, should I take off the steering yoke to regrease the pins or is this not typically necessary?
Appreciate the help, this is my first foray and I'm stumbling through it.
