New to me, 2000 4.3L (twin) Bravo III outdrives.600 hours on engines.
When it was dewinterized, the mechanic said one of the pumps was a little difficult to get going? He suggested impellor change.
In looking up part numbers, I can buy the impeller, o-ring, and wear plate for about 50 bucks per engine. They also show a kit that includes the above parts plus a body and new bolts for 90 bucks per engine.
Do you suggest replacing body also?

Howdy,

well, that would depend on what shape the housing is in.

If it's in good shape, no.

Mine was a little melted....from running dry.

I got my pump parts HERE: http://bpi.ebasicpower.com/c/MER8C/Raw+Water+Pumps+&+Parts+for+Mercruiser

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply. I'm new to I/O's
Can this project be done on the engine or is it best to remove whole pump and replace the parts on the bench?

Ayuh,... On the bench is Much Easier....
Pay attension to which side,+ where the hoses go....
