I replaced the old style Saginaw power steering actuator on my Bayliner 2858 (496 Mag HO, Bravo III). Matched the unit up to insure all the dimensions the same as the old one. Hooked everything up. Started the engine and the actuator immediate and extremely fast automatically turned the outdrive all the way to one side. Would not let be turn the steering wheel back. I assumed it was just air in the system and repeated numerous times with the same result. After messing with this for quite a while trying to figure out what could be wrong, assumed that the actuator I had purchased off e-bay was bad. Ordered another one. Just finished installing it, and the same thing. Has anyone experienced this before? Where the actuator goes wild one way or the other. Any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated.
