Restriction in water hose that goes to gimbal housing at pickup hose. I pulled off the water hose at inside of transom and removed the 2 bolts that hold hose end on and a pencil will not fit through there because of corrosion and the hose blocking the hole. This does not look like fun. Its an 03 496 bravo x has never been in salt and has 191 hours.

Re: Bravo X Transom

Has anybody changed the water hose from the bellhousing to the transom on a bravo drive. It looks like the bell housing will have to come off to gain acess to this hose and I know there are plastic inserts that go in each end. I hope that someone has done this before.

Re: Bravo X Transom

done it many times.
just had another tech at work do one yesterday.
pain in the rear but possible.
easist way is to remove the drive and the bellhousing hinge pins and remove the steering cable.
then let the fun, games and parts renaming begin.

Remove steering cable and acuator or just steering cable? I like the pic the service manual has of all of the extra room to perform this task starting from the inside of the boat. I have a question on those nice plastic inserts, there are no clamps and Im hoping that the insert removal tool and installing tool will some how make the hose tight at the insert. The other question that I have is the drive bellows, does it have to come off. Thanks for answering and letting me know that its as bad as I thought. You have always been a big help and cant thank you enough.

Re: Bravo X Transom

Just getting started on this and would like to know about the tool for the plastic insert. Mine does not fit in the insert very good unless I force it. Is there anything else I should know about this. Should the u-joint bellows be removed for this job? Does anybody have a link to this that would help at all? Thanks
