I had recently removed my drive from service and realized that my speedometer connector is broken. I mean the handle that you use to twist it to detach it is snapped off, so it is difficult to remove. Further it is missing the little O-ring.

The MercCruiser parts catalog show an old and new style of adapter. Will either one work in the 1990 drive I have and does it actually come with the O-Ring?

Old style and new style both take the same adapter that goes into the drive itself. PN 815303. There is No oring.

Don, On one of my speedo connectors, the one that is not broken has an oring on the nipple end, and the broken one is missing the oring... there is definately a grove for one... but I dont see one listed as a seperate item on the parts list...

Don S. So the question comes to mind.. Do I actually need the O Ring that does exists on one of the drives speedo connectors? If its better to put one on the side that is missing, then how can I get one besides just trying to match it somewhere...
