You have to use extra oil for breakin. even if you have oil injection use about double till you verify the injection system is working by observing oil going down in tank, them maybe cut back to 1/2 again extra. If the motor is on the boat try to run at ramp or on hose for couple hours, checking the thing is pissing ok and doesn't feel too hot.Don't rev it up over 1/2 throttle for too long till later in breakin period, about 10 hours.Doesn't hurt to recheck the head bolt torque after a couple of heating/cooling cycles.Don't overload boat or strain motor, easy does it,especially if they used forged pistons.Don't overheat motor, and if you live in the frozen north like me I would not run it in really cold water, wait till 50's?

Good advice. Also important to vary the speeds and don't run at any one speed for extended periods of time.

Retorque your head bolds after a couple of hours also.
