break-in

I would like to know the significance of my rebuilt 454 engine run on a sim machine at the engine building shop ?

I am near the end of getting all the stuff bolted back on and I am wondering, what if anything, I need to do different, in terms of the break-in proceedure ? What was the purpose of them running it on that machine ? I am well informed on the break-in proceedure but not sure if the engine having been run on a sim machine plays a roll.

I am having the shop do the initial start up and timming and will ask them these questions i just want to be informed before hand.

Good service shops that are set up for it do like to run the engine out before putting the engine in the boat to check for leaks, timing, Does the engine sound right, check oil/temp, 12 volts, Things like that because it's a lot easier to fix any of those problems while the engine is out of the boat rather than in the boat, Because if it was in the boat you may half to pull the engine back out to fix something.

(IMHO) When YOU first get the boat back in your possession for the first time with the new rebuilt engine, You would be better off treating the engine as if it has never been started or ran before just to be safe.
