Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums. I just needed to get some crazy news out. I just recently purchased a 1984 Galaxy runabout with a 2.5 OMC. The guy I bought it from neglected to mention that the block was cracked. First time on the water the entire engine compartment was filled with water within 30 min. I luckily limped it back onto the trailer in time. I got it home and bought a water muff. After running it for about 3 seconds I spotted water pouring out of 2 large cracks in the block. I pulled the intake/exhaust manifold and beheld the horror. It had a 12 inch crack at the top of the block, another 8 inch crack at the bottom, and the manifold had about a 6 inch crack. There was no water in the oil at all so I got a wild idea. I took some paint primer and hardener (from the local parts store) and mixed a a few ounces of each together. I then pushed the primer, by hand, into the cracks over and over until the primer started to "gel" up, then i covered it the rest of the way with the "gel". I put the muffs on it and got it up to operating temperature and had no leak whatsoever!!! Dry as can be!!! So far there are no other leaks and I never get any water into the boat. Sorry for the long thread but I had to let some people know of a very inexpensive technique. Let me know what you guys think.
