Yes or No to this? I read on another forum that it was a good idea just to crank it over a little to change the position of all internal parts.

Leave it alone.

NO, and there is a reason. Just a little bit of cranking, never builds oil pressure. So constantly turning with no oil pressure is not a good thing. At least run it till the oil pressure builds, not just crank it.
Cranking also adds raw gas to the cylinders to wash away any fogging oil that may have been in the cylinders.
If you winterized and fogged the engine. Let it set till spring, NO cranking.

What if you have to crank it as I did after fogging it? I can't start it and re antifreeze it now. Should I pull each plug and squirt a little fogging or other light oil down the spark plug hole? I understand the idea behind fogging but, I have several cars that set all winter and I don't fog them. Of course they don't run a water environment like a boat engine.

Why would you have to crank it after fogging it??????

I have several cars that set all winter and I don't fog them.
Maybe you should consider some special care for them too. It wouldn't hurt them you know. Besides, even if you didn't fog your marine engine it would PROBABLY be all right, but then again, they don't have the open air movement a car or truck engine does.

Is it beneficial if I pull the plugs in the spring, before I start it and spray fogging oil in the cylinders? If I used WD40 to spray in the cylinders what will that do? (stop moisture but not lube)

I have it in a heated shop and am doing some work. Among other things I have added a pertronix ignition and remove the breaker points. After adding the ignition pickup box in the distributor they want you to turn the motor over a few times to check for interference between the distributor shaft and there electronic pickup box. If you see what I mean.

Ayuh,......... I wouldn't Worry about it.......
That little bit will just Smear the oil/ grease around somemore.....
If you've got the sparkplugs out,+ want to splash some into it,.....
That won't Hurt either.........

Don,

What if you did not Fog the engine? What if you changed the Oil and the Drive fluid and then drained the water from the engine?

The reason I ask is because I was going to use the boat on the warmer weekends but that does not look like it is going to happen now. Should I start it up on muffs and then drain it every month or should I take it to the dealer and have it fogged? I will do everything except fog it. I have no desire to play with fuel lines............. BTW, this is a 5.0 MPI with an Alpha 1.

You can do either, IMHO.....
Personally, if you are familiar with the proper draining procedure, I would run it once a month.....
Keeps the batterys charged, & keeps all the stuff that is not fogged moving, cable, drive, etc......
I feel that the worst thing for a boat is to let it sit....;)

No you should not crank it with the key. If you can get in there and crank it by hand you should. It is a good idea to rotate the engine 90 degrees every few weeks when they are going to sit for a period of time. The valve springs dont like sitting in one position for to long and can weeken. This can cause a loss of power because of valve float. I`v seen it happen changed the springs and ran fine again. Will it happen to all engines no but why chance it. I move mine once a month but I never winterize either as on a 40 degree day I will pull it out and run it to temp. I never know when I will get the itch to make a run to the fish.

If you didn't fog the engine and its only been a couple months then your fine. Fogging is really for LONG term storage but if I were you then you could pull the plugs and spray fogging oil in the cylinders and then crank it over a little then put the plugs back in or install new plugs.
