Soooo, I got this 5 hp Briggs and Straton outboard from my dad as a trade for an extensive detailing service I did on his truck. He bought it about 5 years ago and only used it for one short season, and then moved off the lake and didn't use it again, so in the garage it went for a few years until I got it from him. When I attempted to use it the first time, it sputtered bad after half throttle and if I pushed it to far it would die and be hard to restart. I took the carb apart and cleaned it good, but it still sputters. Now, for no good reason, the pull starter is not engaging the engine. I'm looking for some suggestions about the sputter, and wondering how hard it is to replace a pull start on one of these.
