Hey crab bait! The way I read your post, you are asking how the system works.<br /><br />It's pretty basic. What is required to produce an electric current is a conductor, a magnetic field, and relative motion between the two. The coils amount to a "concentrated" conductor. So, when the magnets are whizzing by those coils, current flow is induced in the coils, and BANG, you have charging current.<br /><br />Bob's answer is on the money too. As long as those magnets are passing the coils at a reasonable distance, you'll get current, but the coils CAN fail, just like the stator in an outboard.<br /><br />I hope that was the info you were seeking.<br /><br />Another approach is that a conductor, an electric current, and a magnetic field will produce relative motion.
