Just want to get this out there now so that in a year when the restoration is done i have a lot of info to go on. The gel coat on my Rinker is very oxidized. Is there some way to get that showroom shine back or would I have to get the gel coat redone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jason

Re: bringing back the shine to my gel coat

i've had luck with 3m heavy duty marine rubbing compound (blue hull). but, not all gel coats are equal and some products work better than others on certain hulls...trial and error for the best product.

the process will be the same though. sweat your butt off or pay someone to do it. you'll want a decent buffer (not one of those random orbital pieces of junk from wallie mart), harbor freight has one. i'd try rubbing compound first, if that doesn't work you may need to wet sand...depends on how bad it is. work your way up thru higher grits, if necessary, to get to a nice finish and then wax (or not) or 403 uv protectant.

lots of posts to search on this one
