Had an interesting time over the weekend, thought I would share. Went to get the boat a 1969 Nautiline houseboat. Had a person swerve over on us on the interstate and thumped them. No air bag deployment with a trooper behind us as a witness. He did the report. Everyone OK but shaken up. Continue to get boat with a wrecked car and 4 flat spots on the tires. Get there and the boat looks great. Look up Steve White if you need work done on old hickory. Good man, great prices and exelent work. Kyle Reid transportation towed her to Dale Hollow. Once more look him up if your in the need. Put it in the water right engine will not pump water. Slung belts off of left one. Not Steve's fault. Quick call and prime pumps with liquid soap and new belts and we are off next day. Bad wind rough lake picked up a wad of wire and a chain saw chain on left engine. Proceed on on right drive. Get lost and finally see light on a dock. Hendricks Creek Marina We pull in and tie up. Great people and a great place to dock for anyone close. We had no heat and 15 degrees so we thought we would freeze. Back next day and found the wire on left drive Marine Master gave us great directions to Mitchell Creek our new home. Left drive quit on the way did not try to refire until after we reached the dock.

Long story short two bad days on the boat beats two good days at work. There are great people at the docks on Dale Hollow willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Wow, PST. Sounds like a bummer trip with silver lining. Reminds me of my worst road trip ever.

Glad you got it over with.

PST - Not only a testament to your positive outlook on the world, but also to how nice a lake Dale Hollow is: when you can have that rough a ride and still think, "wow, this is great!" I wish I could get over there more often than once per year.

Glad no one was hurt in the car hit.

Enjoy the boat!

No doubt. Some of those "beasts" out on Center Hill and Dale Hollow must be pretty interesting to keep moving in the right direction. I hope no one is watching the first time I try to land one on the dock

Sounds like Mr. Murphy showed up big time on your trip. Hopefully you have nothing but good luck with the new boat from here on out. Glad everyone is safe.

....well that has got to be one of the most weird items I ever heard of anyone getting hooked up to ! you must have been running in some really shallow water !

I will give TN waters this ... like a box o' chocolates, ya' never know whatcha' gonna' get. There are some crazy piles dumped into some of these lakes. Though, that's kinda' abnormal for Dale Hollow.

Is the drive working okay now?

Thankfully when it hit it vibrated bad and I just shut her down. Not even a scratch that I can see. Works like a new one. I have been on these waters for 30 years and have never seen mess like that.

Re: Bringing her home.

Reminds me of a houseboat that a friend and I moved to a marina for consignment sale. The owner told us the boat was in good shape and would run fine. What he didn't tell us is that he hadn't hauled the boat in years - it had a layer of growth so thick that we burned a full load of fuel on a short passage and I had to get in the water with a screwdriver to scrape/chip the junk off of the props, to keep them from cavitating.

Isnt it odd that some people spend so much on a boat only to ignore it? I will be preforming a hull cleaning on mine at least once a month. there is slight growth since I had the bottom done this spring.

I agree. When I was racing sailboats, we had a diver clean the bottom before every race. A little radical by most standards, but at least keep the hull clean enough so as to not degrade performance to a ridiculous level!

Re: Bringing her home.

I cant believe some of the nasty stuff I have seen on the bottom of sitting houseboats. After just a short jaunt most of mine is gone. Just taking it out will help to plow some of it off.
