It has been a month and change since I have purchased a new 185FS with a 125 Mercury Optimax and a 5HP kicker. It sat on the lot for two weeks before they started to put the package together. The ice should be off the lakes by next weekend and hopefully I will be ready to go. Does anyone else run this setup? What should I be expecting for speeds? I know a few other people using the 165 FM and 175 FS and they can say no wrong about their boats. I guess only time will tell. This is my first boat purchase and I can?t wait to get it wet.

It's finally home. Just need the lakes to open up now.

Brought it out on the lake today. Still have to finish breaking the engine in. I was hitting 30mph at about 4500 RPM. Can't wait to open It up and see what it does. Very happy with the ride.

I have a 175FM w/ 115hp Optimax and she tops out at 44-45mph on the GPS (dash speedometer shows 52mph). The dash is acurate to about 35mph then starts to show differences w/ the GPS.
Looks like the factory bimini top w/ front piece that snaps to the windshield. I didn't like the way it looked so purchased an aftermarket top which works great but I wish I got the factory one for those rainy days on the water. I hope you've had her out a few times already.....

Re: Bringing home my 185FS on Friday

I have had the boat up to 39mph on GPS and the seedometer said 44mph. The rpm's were at 5700. The mech. told me if I went to a 19 pitch stainless from the 17pitch i'm curently using. I would stay the same in the bottom end and gain more top speed. I really like the cover. Just wish I had a cover for the windsheild when I'm towing it.
A coworker of mine also has the Fm175 and really likes it.
