Broke 10-Disc CD Changer Over Weekend

I guess I hit a wake way too hard because my 10-disc changer literally came apart from the face of the trim piece in my cuddy cabin. I am not very electrically-inclined, so I have NO CLUE how to even get the unit 'out' of the boat??!?!.

It is a Sony system, so I have the following questions:

*Would it be easier to just buy a new CD changer rather than try to take this out (I think I can at least get to the wires).

*HOW do these faceplates even come off? This thing is mounted in one of my cuddy closets, and there is NOT ALOT of room in there!!!

Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, what did you do???

My advice is to go rip all your music off the CD's and put them on an MP3 player or IPOD. Much easier to deal with, and you don't need to worry about hitting a wake and breaking a player or skipping. You may need to get a new stereo that has an aux input for the MP3 player, but you could find a decent one for around $100. Most stereo stores would even install it for you free.

I agree, but I was just concerned about re-sale value of a stereo component not working.
