hey all, I have a 5.0 mercruiser with a alpha one out drive. I broke the drive shaft in the lower unit, the shop wants a grand to fix, I have a friend selling a complete alpha one drive, but it is off a v6. my question is, would there be any bolting up issues, or gearing issues with the larger moter?

thanks for any input.

Bolting up issues.... no, will bolt right up,

gear ratio will be different.... see attached chart:

take your friends lower and bolt it up to your upper half, the ratio is in the upper half of the drive. The lowers would be the same....

Alpha Ones are not interchangable with Gen 2 drives, so long as they are both pre GEN 2 you should be ok.

What He said but in different words^^^^^
