Hi Everyone,
I just picked up my first boat yesterday. It's an 88 Four Winns Freedom 160. I was going through it today to make sure everything is working. A few odds and ends things, but what I noticed was that when I tried to use the UP trim on the throttle, I got nothing. Down works and so does the trailer button. I was checking through my manual and one of the things it suggested testing was the trim limit switch. Well, while taking it off both of the bolts holding it on snapped and of course are flush. Once off I was able take the 2 wires off the inside and it looks fine. Finally narrowed down to the switch on the throttle itself being bad. So my question is, instead of drilling and tapping 2 stainless screws, can I just drill 2 new holes and just rotate the switch a little so the bolts are in different spots. From what I can see, it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, but I'm completely new to boats so figured I'd check here first.
Sterndrive is a Mercrusier Alpha One
Thanks
Dave
