Broken flush plug???

I think that's what it's called. The plastic screw/plug that is screwed into the hole that is used to flush the engine. The mechanic told me that the tip of that screw in my LU was broken off and that it seals a small hole in the side of the water pump base. Do I need to find this part immediately and will it dmage my engine if I run it with that small tip not completely sealing that hole in the side of the water pump base? If I'm not calling this thing by the right name, can someone tell me the correct name so I can order it? Thanks a million!

Yeah, I would replace it. It is the water pump drain screw, and its plastic. Run by your Merc dealer and get one. Do not put it in too tight. Its plastic. Could be what happened to the last one.

Thanks! Are these things pretty universal. It's for a 69' Merc 800?
