I need some help guys. I have a 1964 Mercury model 39 motor, 3.9 horse power. I broke the gas line fitting that is in at the motor end that the hose from the gas tank connects to. I got the broken piece out of my motor ok after removing the carburator, now I am finding out that the part I need (part #32454 adapter) is no longer available to buy anywhere. I found only one (1) and the guy wants $82 for it. Jus wondering if anyone has any ideas or experience with changing the mercury adapter to a Johnson/Evinrude adapter, and how would that work out? I can come out of the Mercury motor with a short hose if need be to connect a different type of gas line hookup to the motor. I want it safe though guys. Any ideas??

edit: had the wrong year listed

Well guys, thanks for all of the ideas, however, I finally found the part I need on E-bay for $30 so I ordered it. Should be a breeze to repair now!

You can put any brand fitting on the end of the fuel line at the motor, it doesn't care.

I have a short hose on my Model 110 with a Johnson fitting on it, works just fine, and works great for me as my other motors all have the same fittings and my tanks will work for any of them.
