I've got a 1971 25HP Johnson that I'm going to rebuild the power head. It also has a broken upper mount on the exhaust leg. Is it worth the trouble to replace it or is it best left alone.

If it's best to replace, how do I go about it. The Sealoc manual has nothing (that I can find) on replacing the rubber mounts.
Thanks

Re: broken mount

I have two ideas for you.

1) You could get a parts breakdown of the outboard and have a good look of how it is put together and then take pictures as you disassemble it and then use those photos to rebuild it with the new part in place.

2) talk to your local Johnson dealer about how to go about replacing the lower mount. I am guessing you are talking about the rubber mount for the powerhead. If you are taking the powerhead off to rebuild it, then just replace the motor mount when you get in there.
