Re: Broken Pull Rope...help Please
Starter rewind, side mount starter
the starter is held in place by a plate with, i believe 3 screws. remove them, and take the starter assembly out. i have found this the easiest way, to reassemble. pull the spring out of the assembly. on the bottom it has a "hook" insert it into the mount and turn counter clockwise, if will eventually side into the slot, and catch.
now slide the rope housing over the spring, there is a slot in it to catch the top of the spring. now fast the plate on to the motor, leaving the support rod out, temporarily.
turn the assembly counter clockwise, so the bendix comes up, insert the handles of a pair of pliers, under the bendix, so it does not come down. the starter is no locked in that position.
you can now, start to thread the rope around the start assembly. periodiccally pull the rope to tighten the spring, and reinsert the pliers. when you finally have enough tension, very carefully loosen the screws, and slip the support rod into place. tie your handle on and start, starting.
