Hello, I am currently looking at a 1974 Merc 20hp outboard that has a spark plug broken off in the lower cylinder. The owner had tried to replace them both when one broke off. He said he tried to remove it with an easy out, but gave up trying. Since this happened the motor has been in storage for like three years now.

How feasible do you think this is to fix/remove?

Thanks for for any help in advance.

Easy.... Shove bolt in remaing part of plug, welt bolt to remaining part of plug. Let cool, then unscrew

Then pull tge covers to remove any pieces of plug that may be in cylinder

You mean the transfer port and exhaust covers? There is no removable cylinder head on these engines

Compressed air in the spark plug hole and the transfer port cover off should blast anything out. Port has to be uncovered of course.
