Hey guys,

While trailering the boat out for the last time before i went back to school, the bolt that holds my manual tilt lock in place got sheared off.. I bought a transom saver to keep it elevated and used ratcheting tie downs to keep the transom saver from falling off... but I dont wnat to have to do this whenever I trailer the boat. How should I keep the motor up? Can I just rest it down on the trim pin? also the skeg scrped when retrieving... I'd liek to be able to launch alone and prevent that... any ideas? I can't get the bolt out and repace it since the head sheared off... thanks

Re: Broken tilt

What motor is this on. you should be able to soak bolt with wd 40 and take a punch and hammer and tap the remaining pieces out. pict would be nice to see for better idea how it is sheared. also check around and you should be able to find a replacement .

Re: Broken tilt

well, it's for a chrysler. I tried using a tap... I tried the "Grabbit" screw removal tool which usually works really well, but I can't get it out at all. It's on a 70 hp chrysler... 707hd

Re: Broken tilt

Is this the tilt on the trailer or the engine?

Re: Broken tilt

The engine... But really only used when trailering. In retrospect, it was late and should be in the OB non-repair forum... Mods please?
