I believe the lower unit on my outdrive has broken a gear or shaft. It's a duoprop. The inner and outer props appear decoupled from each other. I can turn each independent of the other. It is also making loud popping noises as if a tooth has broken from a gear and jamming ever so often.
First items I need help with is identifing the outdrive. It is attached to a 1991 4.3 L engine. I believe the serial number of the outdrive is 3102114484. I believe the model number is 854640. Best guess is that it's a DP-A drive. What I'm less sure of is the gear ratio. Seems it is either a 2.30:1 or a 1.95:1. Hopefully the serial number provides insight to the gear ratio. This drive is on a houseboat therefore I can't get to it to count the rotations w/o pulling the boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -thx-
