Mechanical idiot with overheating issue:
Water not getting to engine. Dealer replaced impeller. Still overheats quickly. Cobra OMC.
Taking the impeller off and putting the garden hose into the starboard hole, water runs out of the intakes, indicating the passage from impeller to the water intake is clear. But when I put the hose in the left hole, water runs briskly out the front of the drive just under the linkage. (I assume this side is supposed to connect directly to the engine's cooling system, and if water runs out like this, it's not getting up to the engine. Right?)
I don't see any easy way of getting at the spot where the water's running out. (Looks like I'd have to remove the entire drive unit and replace all the seals.) Am I correct in assuming I have a disconnected hose? And is there a way to fix this without turning the boat back to the dealer for another month?
