I bought a 1971 Browning Monterey in an auction. Boat seems to be in fair condition. Hull is good. Engine is complete but needs work. Cosmetics needs help. But all in all, I felt like I got a good deal given I paid under $130 for boat and trailer.
But now have come the more difficult part. I cant seem to find anything on these boats. I would love to see the boat in original condition but not even fiberglassics.com has anything.
It seems as though there are a few people here that either have them or know of them. Can anyone help me out or at least point me in the right direection? Thanks.

Re: Browning Monterey

hi welcome to i boats....

never heard of em....

but thats not uncommon....boat builders used to buy hulls from another company, and build a few then either goet bought out , go out of business, or change theire name.

it is possible the one of the guys here knows....there is some really good people here.......

but ....a boats a boat....and its your boat, build it the way you want !

and congrats on the find

Re: Browning Monterey

i believe Browning, the gun company tried their hand at boat, to diversify a little. seems they were price high, and didn't make it on the browning name.

Re: Browning Monterey

Hey I'm new to the forums and to the boating world. I have also been unalbe to find information on my outboard engine so I can relate to your dilemna. I spent some time trying to do an internet search in regards to your boat but i was unsucessful at finding any information. You have a rare boat and that should make it even more exciting to restore. I did find this link http://www.montereybay.com/creagrus/MtyBayrarebirds.html good name for her huh? The Pelagic... Rare bird in Monterey :) ill keep searching in my spare time. Good restoring!!
