BRP control box

I had a evinrude etec kicker and used a brand new

for a control box. I am selling the engine and wondered if I could use the BRP control for a mercury, Yamaha ect assuming I'd probably have to buy some new cables and possibly a wiring harness or harness adapters. Any one done this? Thanks.

sell the controls with the motor and make sure the motor you buy has controls.

It should be so easy. But it's not. New owner doesn't need the controls.

Generally remote control units are designed to be a plug and play type setup. However, the typical throws for the shifting and throttle controls are setup for the type engine that are made for. So if you were to try and change one for the other, not only would there be a wiring problem, but also the proper throw capabilities as well. Can it be done? YES, but not without much altering and refitting a lot of things. So follow Bondo's suggestion and buy the proper controls for the engine and enjoy boating. JMHO!
