hey can I eliminate my points on my 1960 Johnson Seahorse 10hp or do I have to order the points and stuff?

I was at Princess Auto the other day when I came across the Electronic Modules to replace points, I was tempted but at $25 a side I figured points are cheaper and they do last if properly serviced.

Yeah, it's a real chore to take the flywheel off every 10 years or so.... :D :D

I take mine off every week to clean and adjust, gotta get to the fish on both cylinders , can't run the risk that someone else gets the big one :D :D :D

Every WEEK? Wow - you are ambitious! If mine's running good, I don't monkey with it. I think it's been two years since I cleaned/adjusted points on my '57 Lark.

No Lindy, I have better things to do LOL although every season isn't a bad idea.

Yes,I have done a half doz.or so.Customers didnt come back,so I assume it was OK.BUT,that was 15 yrs ago.My boss gave me the parts ,so I cant help u with specific info regarding manufacturers.I would try the part you found,OR,shop around,maybe a supplier on EBAY ,or the net for a better price

cool thanks for the info everyone Ill prob just end up ordering the points and coils so I don't have to mess with changing everything
