I just bought a Bucket Truck to build my Cabin at the lake since it has to be 17' off the ground. After a grand of repairs on truck and onan motor, got every thing working except A/C outlet on bucket boom. Having said all that , here is my question? does anybody know were I can get a wiring diagram for a Gereral Cable Lift Apparatus Model # A28D Built in 04/91.This is my first time to ever fool with a bucket truck so I'm learning as I go. Just thought a diagram would be a good investment for future problems.

Re: Bucket Truck Wiring

Isn't the AC recetacle just a permanently installed extension cord? You plug in at the bottom and you have power at the top.

Not sure about bucket trucks but this is the way it is on the lifts that I have used. (scissor, cherry pickers, etc.)

Good luck with the house!

Not real sure all that is involved with what you are doing, BUT it seems that all you need to do is go from the ONAN Gen and find the wire that goes to the outlet on the bucket and trace it back. I know that it probably isn't that EZ but I don't know where you would find a wiring diagram. Sorry.

BlueCrabber the Onan runs the Hydraulics and is a generator also. Just none of the outlets work. it only has 2 one on the Bucket and 1 on the turn table Pedistal. Neither is hot. Not to worried about it thought, I can always run and Ext. Cord from service pole. Mainly just searching for schematics on the whole Lift set up. Got about 20 Bosch relays in Electrical Control Box plus about 6 on the Bucket controls. And I know if my luck runs like it has been lately Something wont be working by the time I get it to lake and get ready to start using it. By the way if anybody wants to come hang off a 25 foot Pole and swing a hammer you are more than welcome to come help

In that case, I would start by checking the output of the generator. It is possible it has lost it's residual magnetism to get it started generating and needs to be field flashed.
If that is the problem google "generator flashing' and many articles will come up.

Joed is that like polarizing a field on a generator on old cars? I've done that before but never heard of the term flashing before..

Probably similar. The field needs a bit if magnetism to get the current started. Once it starts then it builds on itself.

you can source the book from altec if you want.
I believe if you look on the turret section of the boom around were the lower controls are you will see a spot for glass fusses, check there or check that GFI plug has not been tripped.
