Budget friendly MEFI 1 communication tool

Just bought a 1997 luhrs 320 convertible with marine power 454 PFI’s, putting new long blocks into it and I am wanting to communicate with the MEFI’s confirm they are reading sensor info, get trouble codes, set timing etc. I have read the manual for these but it does not reference a part number for the MDTC tool.

Any suggestions on a tool? Not wanting to spend a fortune as this is a personal project and not a business expense.

Need a paperclip and 12V resistor LED
or
paperclip and a voltmeter with a tone function.

Turn key ON and watch the flashes or listen for beeps
