I have a bug infestation in my boat, especially noticeable when I keep it in the slip. Is it ok to use the store-bought bug bombs under the cover? Any problems with the interior or residual effects for kids? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Bug bomb in the boat

I am an exterminator, and have had to deal with bug infested boats a number of times, especially wasp nests. If you use a bomb, make sure it has Pyrethrium. That is a chemical that kills quick, and leaves no residual chemical. You will want to wipe your surfaces down afterwards if there is an oily residue. I use pure pyrethrium in a small fogging machine to fill a boat that is enclosed with canvas or whatever, and the results are good, but my stuff is pure. One bomb is more than enough for a boat. Make sure you let the boat sit for the rest of the day to ensure the chemical has degraded, that stuff is very bad for your lungs.
