Ive got an old Bayliner capri, a 1984 19 footer cuddy cabin. Its got the Volvo powertrain.
It has a tank in the floor, but the previous owner did not use it much. It had been running poorly for him, and at one point he thought there was crap in the tank so he reverted to an external tank.
Ive found MANY reasons why it was not running well for him, Ive pretty much been through the whole engine by now, head job, timing belt, etc....
For all my testing, Ive been using a 6 gallon external tank.
Still tuning it in, but Ive found that the old Volvo is pretty thirsty. 6 Gallons is not gonna cut it for me.
SO, how should I proceed with the built in tank? The gauge shows empty, not sure if its working though. I thought I could pump it out somehow, throw some drigas in and 20 gallons of hi test and hope for the best?!?!?
It Does have a fuel water separator down in there, I should put a nice filter inline as well I imagine---or is the separator ALSO a filter?.
Either way, my six gallon tank will stay with me as a reserve or back up!
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be appreciated!
