Hello there,

My boat is a 18' bowrider. I just glassed in the middle bulkhead. Am is setting up a hardpoint where the bulkhead ends, at the edge, on the hull? The white stuff is balloon putty and it has already been glassed in. It is like the original, but I do not have much faith in it, because I have found many mistakes done by the previous owner. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Getting ready to install the floor this weekend and want to get this resolved before I install it.

Thanx and have a great day,

Rob.

Re: Bulkhead Question

If there was gap left between the hull and the bulkhead, and the the gap looks to be filled with thickened resin and then fillets were made, along with some glass tabbing then the effect of a hard spot will be minimized.

But if any part of the bulkhead is tight against the hull, then you potentially have a hard spot. Will lead to cracks, hard to say. It depends on the thickness of your hull and types of glass used to reinforce the hull.
