In my area the ramps are almost flat. I have to back in almost to the radiator cap. Well maybe not quiet.
I want slicken up my bunks. Maybe some silicone spay or liquid roller. Do either of these do any harm to the alum. pontoons.
Thanks,
Uncle dave

Re: Bunk Lubrication

I have a plastic bucket I hang on the front of the trailer. Just getting the bunks wet sure seems to help. A little more water shouldn't hurt the 'toons.

Good Luck

Re: Bunk Lubrication

I just bought 2 ten packs of the 3x16" bunk slicks and plan on installing them the next time we put the boat in the water. I have read where the screws are too short for fastening them to the carpeted bunks so I bought three 35 packs of longer #10 ss screws at lowes and charged up the portable drill so I am ready for doing the job tomorrow. When the slicks came today I noticed that they recommend spacing them about 4" apart. But I might go 6" because I doubt if it will hurt anything. That should be enough to cover 8 2/3 feet down each of the four bunk boards. If that doesn't do the job I will add another set. They cost about $30 a set so shipping and all they came to $73.43. The standard shipping was very fast to my area.

Just keep in mind the tubes are hollow so what ever you put on the trailer will push up into the tube if it is to thick.

There was a trailer at work that had slide that fit over the 2x4 or maybe *** was a 2x6 but the whole surface of the bunk was covered rather than just a pad, I did a quick search but couldn't find them.

Try the silicone spray next time you remove the boat. It does work very well and is pretty cheap option for a first try...

Re: Bunk Lubrication

I have read that the silicone spray works real well. I have seen several other posts in some of the other forum pages where fellow boaters have done this, and on the aluminum V-Bottom fishing boats. Apparently it is common in areas where guys are launching their fishing boats on and off the beach and have different tide depths to contend with.

I have the same problem here with my toon. I ordered some Self-Centering Bunk Glide Ons from Eastern Marine. I ordered 5 kits, as each kit covers 2 8ft bunks. I covered all four bunks on my trailer and they work great. No carpet to mess with.
