Bunk Slicks

Have any of you used a PVC cap on your bunks - instead of the "slicks" that are sold ?

A piece of 10'x3"x4" rain gutter split would do fine.

I've used old plastic cutting boards back in the day, basically the same idea.

A LOT cheaper than the purpose made "slicks" - $7 for 10', which will do 20' of bunk!
