I have a trolling motor that I think has burnt-out, but I do not know that FOR SURE .
If I were to open it up, what are some repair areas/tips that I can try and test this theory
( hopefully, to be false :D ) ?

Thank You !

Re: Burnt-out (?) Trolling Motor

foot control or hand control?

First thing is, I think, make sure it's not just a switch. Find the wires leading down to the powerhead & test for continuity from the pos to neg.

If you don't have a continuity tester, you could just hot-wire 'em to the battery & see if it'll spin. If it don't, though, disconnect it immediately before anything has a chance to catch on fire.

Minn Kotas have a fuseable link type thing in the foot pedal. I just had to bypass one the other day to finnish a fishing trip.
