I have been trying to get the 305 lined up with pre alpha outdrive in a sea arrow ski boat. There were 2 little bushings bout 1/2 inch long.....do they go between the rear motor mounts and bell housing mounts? I have had the front high and low and still can't get the tool in the coupling.

No, those (I assume Mercruiser????) go on top of mounts, underneath the large flat washers. You probably need new rear motor mounts, if the rear is low. And you do have the spring washers and fiber washers in place under the rear mounts, correct?

I do not have the spring washers and that may be my problem. Where can they be purchased or can other washers be used? Thanks for the reply and I was able to print off a manual off another thread. This computer won't open it but someone posted the whole thing. Thanks

What year is the outdrive? Can you provide a serial number?

it all rides on rubber bushings in the bell housing so if the metel centers are broke away from rubber they need pressed out and new ones pressed in. align the gimble bearing or it wont align right even though everthing is okay. insert bar and start in coupler a little and tap it on all sides and that will point the bearing at the coupler then adjust engine tilt with back mounts tight then tighten fronts when bar slides in easy and recheck . it can take awhile so hang in ther but once you do it you will understand that you are tilting engine, pivoting on those rubber mounts not raising it . i dont kow for sore but some dont use the spring washer but i dont have that info

I have the new gimble bearing in but I have not aligned it by doing what you just said and that makes a lot of sense. I managed to find my double wound lock washers also so it all should come together. Thanks!!
