Busted Oil Dipstick (TUBE) corrected info

After a great fireworks show on the St. Lawrence River last night, the oil dipstick tube broke on the ride back to shore. It broke at the base of the tube in the middle if the expansion ring. What's the best way to get the remainder of the tube out? I wonder what would cause it to break off like that. The one and only bolt was in place and it didnt have any play in it when ever i checked the oil. I hope I can still get a replacement tube.

I need to make a correction to my original Post. Everything is the same except I didn't break the dipstick I actually broke the "OIL DIPSTICK TUBE". That's what is so suprising to me. It was anchored securely and absolutely no movement to it. If anyone could tell me what I have to do to remove the small peice that's still in the block I would be most greatful.
