I got a little, 6 oz, water in the engine oil in my 165 I6, so I pulled the manifold and riser. Found a small hole in the riser, but manifold looks good.

I also noticed the flapper is gone; is that worth replacing, or should I not worry about it? Seems like I should be able to operate fine without.

I will replace the riser and clean up the manifold and install with new gaskets and hardware.

I'm hoping this will cure the water issue, what do you think? Is there anything I need to check out??

Thanks guys!

Also...I noticed the oil looked very dark after running just a couple of hours, is that due to the water issue also?

Re: Busted riser

Replace the riser and the flapper........ or the engine later. Your choice.

Re: Busted riser

Is it worthwhile to change the gaskets on the end caps of the exhaust manifold? They are included in the kit, but I come from the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' school...so I wouldn't change unless ya'll think it's helpful.
